liar liar

I woke up this morning to someone pounding on my door and when I opened it the neighbors door across the hallway was open and a fire fighter was crawling through their window. Me and shannon opened our windows and this is what we saw..
Talk about greatest thing to wake up to.

Oh just FYI the building next doors roof was on fire. We we're wishing it was our building so we could check off our bucket list "get rescued by a fireman."

cant keep it to myself - babble post

Every year i want to go so every year i plan on it. And then every year for one reason or another (work, almost making it but getting stuck in traffic, being on the oppisite end of the country etc..) i end up not being able to attend.
So i'm staying off facebook because in about 1 hour, it will look like the color festival threw up all over my news feed.

I wish i had enough creativity running through my body to make something like this. Also i very much enjoyed the song. If you liked, go here to see more happiness.

I stare at this picture multiple times a day, drooling over the colors. And then usually go and make some for myself.

I will learn french someday.

Men in cardigans? I tried to with all of my effort via skype last night, to convert my brother in law but he wasn't having it. What do i say to the male gender and cardigans? Mmmmm. Me thinks yes. There's even a blog dedicated to men in cardigans.
Your thoughts?

Have you ever seen a cuter little girl? I think not.

I am still in love with this. Watch the video. I ooo'd and awwe'd over it.

Hope your weekend is wonderful and full of attractive men in cardigans!

Rosemary Urquico you sure know how to write

"Date a girl who reads. Date a girl who spends her money on books instead of clothes. She has problems with closet space because she has too many books. Date a girl who has a list of books she wants to read, who has had a library card since she was twelve.

Find a girl who reads. You’ll know that she does because she will always have an unread book in her bag. She’s the one lovingly looking over the shelves in the bookstore, the one who quietly cries out when she finds the book she wants. You see the weird chick sniffing the pages of an old book in a second hand book shop? That’s the reader. They can never resist smelling the pages, especially when they are yellow.

She’s the girl reading while waiting in that coffee shop down the street. If you take a peek at her mug, the non-dairy creamer is floating on top because she’s kind of engrossed already. Lost in a world of the author’s making. Sit down. She might give you a glare, as most girls who read do not like to be interrupted. Ask her if she likes the book.

Buy her another cup of coffee.

Let her know what you really think of Murakami. See if she got through the first chapter of Fellowship. Understand that if she says she understood James Joyce’s Ulysses she’s just saying that to sound intelligent. Ask her if she loves Alice or she would like to be Alice.

It’s easy to date a girl who reads. Give her books for her birthday, for Christmas and for anniversaries. Give her the gift of words, in poetry, in song. Give her Neruda, Pound, Sexton, Cummings. Let her know that you understand that words are love. Understand that she knows the difference between books and reality but by God, she’s going to try to make her life a little like her favorite book. It will never be your fault if she does.

She has to give it a shot somehow.

Lie to her. If she understands syntax, she will understand your need to lie. Behind words are other things: motivation, value, nuance, dialogue. It will not be the end of the world.

Fail her. Because a girl who reads knows that failure always leads up to the climax. Because girls who understand that all things will come to end. That you can always write a sequel. That you can begin again and again and still be the hero. That life is meant to have a villain or two.

Why be frightened of everything that you are not? Girls who read understand that people, like characters, develop. Except in the Twilight series.

If you find a girl who reads, keep her close. When you find her up at 2 AM clutching a book to her chest and weeping, make her a cup of tea and hold her. You may lose her for a couple of hours but she will always come back to you. She’ll talk as if the characters in the book are real, because for a while, they always are.

You will propose on a hot air balloon. Or during a rock concert. Or very casually next time she’s sick. Over Skype.

You will smile so hard you will wonder why your heart hasn’t burst and bled out all over your chest yet. You will write the story of your lives, have kids with strange names and even stranger tastes. She will introduce your children to the Cat in the Hat and Aslan, maybe in the same day. You will walk the winters of your old age together and she will recite Keats under her breath while you shake the snow off your boots.

Date a girl who reads because you deserve it. You deserve a girl who can give you the most colorful life imaginable. If you can only give her monotony, and stale hours and half-baked proposals, then you’re better off alone. If you want the world and the worlds beyond it, date a girl who reads.

Or better yet, date a girl who writes."

I love when i open up a book and its overflowing with comments in the margins and highlighted passages. Pick up any of thousands of books my dad has and I can guarantee that you will find this. If there is anything i have learned from my dad, it's just how influential a book can be on someones life. And due to the fact that books have shaped me into the person i am, it breaks my heart every time someone tells me they hate reading. Books can be life changing if you let them.

My name is Madison Waters and I believe reading is one of the greatest joys life has to offer.

Now here is where you tell me some of the best books you ever did read. Ready, go!

New York, you've made a liar out of me.

Now listen. This post.. well its a bit sappy. But i've just embraced my sappy-ness and learned to love it. So if sappy makes you squirm in your seat folks feel free to just skip this post.

When people back home ask me how New York is I lie. I lie because when I left Utah I was so ready for things to go the way I wanted them to. I had this picture in my mind of the way things were going to go. So when I got here and the excitement of being in a new place wore off, I realized this was not going to go the way I had planned. When people would ask me how it was going in their "oh my gosh you live in new york now how is it??" excited voice I hated admitting that everything was not perfect.

And not until today did I realize this:

Being out here doesnt mean that I can't admit its hard, because it is.
And it doesn't mean that I can't admit that I am unhappy sometimes.

But,

I am grateful things don't turn out perfect. I am grateful that Heavenly Father forces me out of my oh so little hermit shell to make me grow and learn.
There is no doubt in my mind that this gospel is what gets me through it every day.
I am very blessed to have family and friends back home that are constantly reminding me I will always have a place to go. And I am grateful to be out here because I know this experience is making me a better person. After seeing everything Japan's experiencing I felt like I needed to express how blessed I am that I have the life that I do.

I recently stared writing down at the end of the day at least three things I am grateful for that day and its helped me stay on the more optimistic side of things.

So peeps,

What are you grateful for?

i love the child you created kira

**Disclaimer** Don't feel required to watch this video. I have whats called "i love my niece way to much" syndrome and i think she is the funniest person alive. I'm pretty sure my sister Kira has stopped blogging because i have taken over her job of posting about her family.

Brinley has a slight obsession of taking videos of herself on photobooth. This provides a lot of entertainment later when you find random videos of her singing elmo's world or talking to justin bieber.

Yes she did sing hot potato over and over for a minute and thirteen seconds.
And yes she did slap herself repeatedly while saying "is this annoying??" for forty eight seconds.

This child is constant entertainment.
Enjoy kira, i think your future self will thank me later for posting this.

Dr. Waters

Father Waters came from utah to visit me for the past couple of days.
He recently got an iphone which resulted in him taking a thousand and one photos but most of them turned out to be just stalker-ish pictures of me and shannon. Either way it was a great two days and I am still trying to convince him to move out here with the fam.

(that last picture on the right is of me telling him
to stop creeperly taking pictures of me and shannnon and to pay attention)
